A note to self

A note to self -

(a) it's so easy to leave the blog unattended. What you want to write today, you have to write it today. If blogging is postponed to another day for any reason, don't be surprised if the new entry may not see the light of day anytime soon. Just look at this blog as a case in point. For the last entry to be before Christmas 2010 is in two words, highly embarrassing;

(b) the car battery has a life span. It is not something which exists for an infinite period. Remember the standard period is two years, depending on how far your car has travelled and how you maintained your car. So keep a note on when was the last time your car battery gave up on you. The date in question is 14 February 2011, lest you suddenly find yourself stuck on some highway with no clue as to why your car could not start;

(c) photos taken during your travels are priceless. Priceless not because you just happened to have bought a new camera or that you can delude yourself into thinking that maybe, just maybe you have an eye for taking good pictures (this credit belongs to your sister by the way, not you). It's priceless because that's the only thing that can remind you of where you were at that particular point in time. And like other priceless items, it must be stored in a safe place. While it hardly counts as a reason to open a safe deposit box with the bank, you can start by ensuring that you save a copy in a separate computer hard disk. If you're continuously nagged with the feeling that the computer may not be exactly reliable, then burn a copy into a cd. Uploading the same pictures on Facebook may also help. However, be mindful that pictures on Facebook are practically a sign of your consent to share private photos with the rest of the world. And remember that there are serious whackos out there. Be discreet and keep those certain photos out of public domain;

(d) when it's time to change phones, it is time to change phones. There should be no sentimentality attached to your old phone, especially when it belts out Shakira tunes during the middle of a court hearing and you were seated next to your big boss. You know that you've always set your phone on silent mode but that reason does not suffice when the phone's keypads jammed themselves up while you're frantically trying to switch your phone off. Banging the phone on the Bar table to silence it however, not an option. You don't want to be wrongfully seen as a 'rich drama queen' (although obviously you don't fit in any of the criteria to be called as such);

(e) there's a saying that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. There's also a term known as 'pro bono' in the legal fraternity. Unfortunately, certain parties don't understand that. They seem to think that what started out as favour for them is now an obligation on your part to go the extra mile. Worst still, you know they're headed down the wrong (and costly) path and yet, they turn a deaf ear on your advice. It's utterly frustrating;

(f) getting the IPhone 4 is akin to getting a passport to enter the tech-world. There's a looong way to go in grasping the ways to utilise IPhone. With numerous applications available and different parties suggesting you get this and that, it can be mind-boggling. For now, stick with the basic applications. Kakao Talk, Viber and Tango should be sufficient while you traverse your way through the I-World. But feel free to understand more on how you can download those k-pop tunes into your new phone!; and

(g) it's Saturday and you're going to drive off to Muar to fulfil another of your social obligations. It's the wedding season after all (but then again, almost every other weekend are filled with wedding invitations!). You haven't pack yet (notwithstanding it's only a night stay) so better scoot off now if you plan to reach Muar before evening sets in.

Signing off and see you soon (hopefully 'soon' does not translate into a long time)!
